Cinelli XCR75 Limited Edition

In 2023 Cinelli celebrated its 75th Anniversary

The Cinelli XCR75, produced to celebrate this milestone, is a limited edition of twenty bikes globally. This bike is the only bike in Australia and the only one of the twenty bikes still available for sale. It is a size large.

CINO CINELLI

After retiring from a brief but illustrious career as a professional cyclist in 1944, Cino Cinelli (winner Giro di Lombardia 1938 and Milan-San Remo 1943) worked for four years as distributor of a variety of different cycling brands before launching Cinelli Milan at the end of 1947 at Italy’s first bicycle and motorbike trade show at the Milanese Triennale.

1948

In 1948 armed with his first logo, combining the heraldic symbols of his birthplace of Florence and his adopted hometown, Milan, and - in a sign of his great ambition - the world’s greatest framebuilder, Luigi Valsasina, lured away from Bianchi where he had been Fausto Coppi’s personal builder, set about manufacturing the first Cinelli Milano bicycles and components. What was to follow changed the history of performance cycling equipment forever.

PERSONALITY

Cino was conservative but experimental; he is famous for creating the world’s most beautiful aluminum stems and handlebars but for years before derided the material... Nothing Cino Cinelli did was ever predictable and the cycling equipment he designed, manufactured and distributed are collector’s items today thanks to this rich and daring mix of characteristics.

THE CONCEPT

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Cinelli and the personality and ethos of our founder we have developed a bike that represents our vision of what we believe would be the bike that Cino Cinelli would most want to ride if he was still here today, a bike that mixes technologies, materials, colours and languages to create a bike that is an homage to Cino’s heterogeneous and striking personality as well as the expression of a brand philosophy.

THE BIKE

Inspired both by Cino Cinelli’s epic exploits as a rider during the early 1940s (including victory at the 1943 Milano – San Remo) and his unpredictable, heterogeneous attitude towards performance
and technology the Cinelli XCR75th is the world’s ultimate all-road performance bicycle.

AVANT-GARDE

Combining the avant-garde luxury of Columbus XCR stainless steel with a new all-road geometry (heavily influenced by Cino’s 1950s Super Corsa geometries) with the future of drive chains with many other details each developed specifically and exclusively for this bicycle.

THE GRAPHICS

The XCR75th graphic scheme pays homage to 75 years of visual history of the brand. The application of a mix of logos and graphics from the brand’s history (combining the iconic with the forgotten with the cult with the until- today-unused) is inspired by the aesthetic of antique walking sticks with their commemorative Alpine souvenir badges. The premium quality Italian decals are applied to a hand- polished XCR stainless steel frame without additional paint or clear coat and are complemented by customized Cinelli Neos cockpit and seatpost and components by partner brands.

THE DETAILS

The Cinelli XCR75th frame is constructed with Columbus XCR stainless steel tubes. Columbus’ XCR tubing represents the greatest innovation in steel bicycle tube manufacturing of the last 25 years. The material allows for the construction of the world’s lightest steel frames as well as - thanks to its superior mechanical characteristics and resistance to corrosion- the guarantee that your frame is destined to become a family heirloom, maintaining the same wonderful stiff and reactive ride feel for generations to come.

CUSTOM GEOMETRY

The geometry of the XCR75th is like no other geometry we have ever created. It combines elements maintained from a mid-1950s Supercorsa such as the seat tube angle and chainstay length together with the more erect and comfortable in saddle position of contemporary endurance bikes.

THE CLASSIFIED HUB

The Classified drive chain system reminds us of one of the most radical ideas ever developed by Cinelli together with his great friend Tullio Campagnolo: the bivalent hub. Classified’s drive chain system is in fact well on the way to realizing a dream beyond even Cino’s most radical dreams, transforming the contemporary drive train through the elimination of the front derailleur. We are proud to partner with them in the use of this technology, encased in a custom anodized hub package developed exclusively for Cinelli.

INGRID CRANKS

Ingrid makes the most beautiful CNC cranksets in Italy if not the world. We love all their models but the way in which the CRS Pop combines art with performance made it the natural choice for the XCR75th.

RON FAB’S HANDLEBAR BAG

Alt cycling guru Ronnie Romance owns a bag factory, Nutmeg Needleworks in Connecticut where he and his colleagues make beautiful bike bags that combine contemporary fabric technologies with old school durable manufacturing and super-smart detailing. We are honoured that they worked together with us to create a custom colourway and lining of their cult Fabs Abs handlebar bag.

CUSTOM BROOKS SADDLE

We love the Brooks Cambium C-13 shape, weight and detailing. We also believe there is no fabric covering in the world more beautiful or romantic than Brooks’ organic cotton paired with natural uncoloured rubber shell. So we had to ask Brooks to combine the two just for us to create the ultimate neo-vintage-performance saddle. We are flattered that they accepted our request.

RENE HERSE TYRES

Rene Herse makes some of the best all road and “gravel” tires in the world. Its excellence lies in its ability to continuously challenge norms, navigate clear-eyed through trends, gossip and rhetoric (just like CinoCinelli!) to continue to offer products that change the way your bike feels.

ENAMELLED BADGE

The original Cinelli enamelled badge, first used on Cino Cinelli’s stems in the 40s and 50s and later his Supercorsa bikes, has been faithfully reproduced here in Italy according to original specifications.
